Kansas City Woman Trades Wedding Rings for Chiefs Tickets

A woman from Overland Park, Kan., made an unusual swap on Craiglist: her engagement ring and wedding band for six Kansas City Chiefs tickets.

Not only that, but the man who traded his tickets for the rings is planning to use them to propose to his girlfriend.

It started last week when the woman (who's remaining anonymous), posted an ad on Craiglist offering up the jewelry for four tickets to the Chiefs' Dec. 1 game versus the Denver Broncos — a huge game between the division rivals that only have one loss between them (KC is 9-0, Denver 8-1).

Randy Jones, 49,  a 20-year Chiefs season-ticket holder who runs a KC-area Dj and sound services company, made contact with the seller, as he and his girlfriend had been discussing getting engaged. The pair struck a deal and met at a local jewelery shop to verify the rings' authenticity and value; the listing stated the rings' value at $3,100, and the store appraised them at $2,800. The final deal was the pair of rings for four tickets to the Dec. 1 Broncos game and two for the Nov. 24 game versus the San Diego Chargers

According to the Kansas City Star, the size 7 engagement ring is is a .45-carat round brilliant-cut diamond set in a white gold setting that contains 20 more small round diamonds weighing .50 carats. The matching wedding band has 10 more small diamonds with a weight of .25 carats.

The woman planned to use the tickets for her husband's 40th birthday. Jones, meanwhile, is planning a big party for the Chiefs game this weekend, where he'll propose to his girlfriend.
